Consulting and engaging with the sector is key to understanding what will create change and momentum across the New Zealand economy and drive better social and environmental outcomes.

The sector engagement activities for Year 1 have been designed from insights gained by Akina and our partners over the past couple of years. Activities in Years 2 & 3 will come from our engagement with the sector this year.

In Year One you can expect to see The Impact Initiative...

  • Support social enterprises around the country to host networking events in their community

  • Gather social enterprise and community enterprise case studies to demonstrate the positive difference they are making across Aotearoa

  • Work in partnership with Māori to identify opportunities for Māori enterprise that are responsive to Māori aspirations

  • Explore how rangatahi (youth) can engage with social enterprise, either through education or other means

  • Continue to have practitioners involved in the design and delivery of the programme through our partnership with the Community Enterprise Network Trust (CENT)

  • Incorporate the insights gained into the other workstreams, and include them in a quarterly insights report to central government

  • Develop a strategy and plan for Years 2 and 3 of the programme.
