The kitchen table was traded for a bar leaner for the first of the Kitchen Table Talk series.
About 25 people gathered in front of warm fire, on a cold Wellington night last week. It was the first MeetUp held for local social enterprises in almost two years, and the perfect event to also have our first Kitchen Table Talk.
When they arrived attendees self-identified as either;
working in, or operating a social enterprise,
wanting to start a new social enterprise or transition a not-for-profit,
providing support services to social enterprises
generally interested in the sector
After a brief introduction on The Impact Initiative, people were invited to contribute insights on what would help our sector have even more impact in Aotearoa New Zealand.
Access to finance continues to be a big area of concern for many people (reflecting the poll taken on the website), as is the desire to continuously connect with others in the sector. Happily, the suggestion of a national event is already in hand with a Forum planned for October in Wellington - more details on that to come.
Our next two Kitchen Table Talk events are in Nelson on 23rd July, and Cromwell on 24th July.
